The unique double-structured shade adds balance to the overall product, and the shape emphasizes the texture of the washi paper when the light is turned on.
The "Tsuchi" shade is made with soil from the fields where mulberry trees, the raw material for washi paper, are grown. The warm washi paper is handmade by craftsmen and complements various settings.
Tanaka-san uses Hosokawa paper, an Important Intangible Cultural Property, known for its strength, durability, and moisture resistance.
The wooden components for each of the three types of lighting are made from different wood species, and we use "Tsuchi". The wooden shafts are designed in various shapes based on the designer's sensibilities and are crafted by woodworkers in Hida Takayama, striking a delicate balance between straight lines and curves.
The socket cover is made of brass to tighten the overall impression of the lighting.
The lamp base is crafted from Nanbu ironware, a traditional art form from Iwate Prefecture. The weight of the iron base guarantees the stability of the light. The base has three legs and a design that allows wiring to come out from any direction. We've created a design that balances stability and beauty by offering the lamp in three different wood finishes: Chiri, Tsuchi, and Kurumi.
Please Note: Due to Japanese regulations, this product will be sold without electrical components.
