The unique double-structured shade adds balance to the overall product, and the shape accentuates the texture of the washi paper when the light is turned on.
The "Chiri" shade is crafted from handmade washi paper mixed with mulberry bark. Handmade by skilled craftsmen, the warm washi paper complements various settings, regardless of the space.
Tanaka-san uses Hosokawa paper, an Important Intangible Cultural Property, known for its strength, durability, and moisture resistance.
The wooden part is made from a different tree species for each of the three types of lighting, with the "Chiri" using cherry wood. The wooden shafts are designed in various shapes based on the designer's sensibilities and are crafted by woodworkers in Hida Takayama, with a delicate balance of straight lines and curves.
The socket cover is made of brass to tighten the overall impression of the lighting.
The lamp's base is crafted from Nanbu ironware, a traditional art form originating from Iwate Prefecture. The weight of the iron base provides stability for the light. The base has three legs and is designed to allow wiring to be discreetly routed. We have designed three different color schemes for the Chiri, Tsuchi, and Kurumi lights, creating a balance between stability and beauty.
Please Note: Due to Japanese regulations, this product will be sold without electrical components.
